The length of a course of psychotherapy varies by individual on a case-by-case basis depending on the severity and extent of the issues being addressed. Some people experience immense benefits from only a few sessions and choose to end therapy at that point, and some people choose to continue accessing services for a significantly longer period of time. There is no way to know for certain in advance how rapidly (or slowly) progress will be made in psychotherapy. How often to schedule sessions and for what period of time is something that can be discussed within the context of the therapeutic relationship.
